I do not recall if it had the diamond S and L marks

I haven't seen that mark, before, or since buying that scope.
They (kv scopes) are not often seen around here.
From what I've seen so far, this is an early use of aluminum for turret base housings.
The anodization on them is quite soft, and they mark quite easily.
