Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.― Mark Twain
They are great guns. I am disappointed that at the higher price point they are no longer drilled and tapped for quality receiver sights but I'm a dinosaur. The first thing I did with my pre crossbolt safety Model 39A (which my brother has now) was to ditch that sorry semi buckhorn rear sight and install a Williams 5D receiver sight, shot a heck of a lot better after that let me tell you.
My 2nd gun was a Marlin 336T (Texan--straight stock with a saddle ring). I had a local hardware store order it for me. When it came in my Dad signed for it ( I was 16). I paid $105 for it.
When my brother came home from the AF he liked my rifle and bought one at K-Mart (pistol grip model) for $85.00.
The straight grip 336 are hard to find.
