    Default Food for thought

    In this case, FOOD.

A quick and easy recipe for soup that we came across.

1lb mild link sausage (or less)

Large can (25-27oz) seasoned turnips or collards (didn't know there was such a thing. We used the collards)

Regular can Great Northern or Pinto beans (we used the Great Northern)

    Regular can Black-Eyed peas

    32oz chicken broth

Cut up and brown the sausage and put all ingredients in a large pot. Bring to a boil and simmer for a few minutes. All your're doing is heating everything through.

Serve with cornbread and pepper sauce if you wish. Enjoy

It doesn't sound good and it surely doesn't look good but is or I wouldn't post it here.

Again, we need a Martha Stewart forum here.

wife made a variation of that,

    Italian Sausage
    Kale
    potatoes
    broth
    and cream,

it's a bit thin, but tasty

What my wife made and using the canned collards, the appearance of the soup reminded me of pond scum but looks are deceiving sometimes.

Neither one of us can get over how quick and easy this is. We didn't season or add salt either due to the salt in the sausage and the seasoned collards.

    These are the empty containers.

Try a mix of turnip greens and mustard greens (50/50), and beef broth rather than chicken next time. All good, but a little different twist on it.

I love my slow cooker. You can make a lot of concoctions in that.
A couple of mine didn't turn out so well, but the coons liked 'em.
