Front receiver ring: I have seen one that let go from the front; it belong to a North Texas gunsmith. there was nothing funny about the event. Like us he was a reloader, the difference? He made a mistake, he used too much of the wrong powder.
He blew the barrel out about 15 feet, at the same time he turned the front receiver ring into something that looked like a small trumpet. He knew immediately what he did wrong. He got up, walked up the lane to the barrel and retrieved it. It was a new build, there was nothing he could use but the barrel.
He did not say anything to anyone, he just left.
