For everyday consistent charges of sugar, thrown charges are consistent enough. For morning bench rest sipping, a trickier and scale are required.
Same goes if watching sodium levels with salt in the dispenser. One must trickle the salt to within one tenth of a grain to make a difference between sea salt and mined salt. Thrown charges will not cut it.
