    Default M1961 Cartridge Belt Question

Hi all, great to have this forum now available. I have what is made to look like an OD M1961 cartridge belt, but it looks like it was an M1936 pistol belt (marked NASCO 1944) with the 15 snaps added at a later time. Did the USMC modify the old pistol belts, and make them into M1961 belts ? or do I have a fake ? Thanks for any input.
