Thread: Family 1911 Pics

  1. Default Family 1911 Pics

This 1911 has always been in my family. I'm 56 and my late father gave it to me. I believe it was his Dad's. I'm assuming it's gotta be near 100 years old. I'm more of a M1 Carbine, Garand, and S&W Revolver collector. What can anyone tell me about this 1911?

Very nice. Refered to as the "Black Army" model and made in 1918.

The above pistol is too early for the rough black finish, as the change in finish did not come until later. The final polish was left off starting in the 310000 serial number range, leaving a darker finish after bluing.

I can't comment on originality, but it is beautiful to me!

    As it's a family heirloom, it's priceless...
