    Default Musket bayonet

Recently picked up a M1763 French Charleville musket, and along with it came a bayonet.

The hallmark on the blade is, from top to bottom

    script "n"
    Crown symbol
    "B"
    "8"

Blade is 17 inches in length with a 3' socket. Socket is 7/8" inside diameter.

Have looked all over and cannot find out which country made it.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Close and the bayonet is similar. This morning I found a page that shows what I described but a cryptic explanation leaves me scratching my head. "French mark, British inspector". WTH?
