a Feb 56 Springfield Garand, possible faint import mark on the barrel, no cartouches, previous owner installed a finger type muzzle brake. I think I did ok at $750.
fits in well with my Dec 41 Lend Lease Garand

I have a 2-56 Springfield in "excellent" condition. Ser# is 59534XX. How close is yours?
Mine is 59703** barrel date of 2-56

I don't blame you for taking it home. When I see one it follows me home to.
You did OK but I I would get rid of the Flash Hider and replace it with the correct lock.
Don't know that I would replace what came with the rifle.
It is what it is, and how it got there is a story we'd like to know.
Might be of interest.
