I just finished Band of Brothers again and I ran across this foto which is heart rending.... The only combat experience they had was dying. My wife's brother was in the 101st Airborne as a cook. His first day in country in Nam, he stepped on a mine.

"Give Me A Fast Ship And I Will Sail In Harms Way" John Paul Jones, U.S. NAVY
The glider was part of Mission Galveston. It landed near Holdy at 0700 on June 7 (not June 6). It carried 29 members of Co. A, 325th Glider Infantry Regiment, 82AB Div. 14 KIA; the other 15 injured and evacuated.
My tribute since this is a little off topic.. a star from a glider recovered by a member of 17th/82nd airborne.
