Does anyone know what the silver painted tips on Russian 762x54R designate? It looks like Standard ball ammo, a FMJ open lead base bullet, copper washed cases, berdan primed. But why would they bother to paint a standard ball round???

I think it designates heavy ball. Yellow some other weight, light I think.
They weigh out at 147 to 149 grs. Maybe light??

That's it. Thanks Phillip!
I stand corrected, steel core it is.
You were mostly right, it's light ball!
