  1. Default Winchester M1 Carbine serial 1,000,568 found

    Hi guys

In my travels I stumbled upon Winchester M1 Carbine 1,000,568. The rifle appears to be original metal finish (at least barrel and receiver) which is blued. The rifle still has a flip sight on it, no stake markings. The barrel is devoid of date , but does has an ordnance bomb on the muzzle where the date would be. The bolt is round and obvious late war. The front sight appears to not have been off and is devoid of marking that I noticed. It is milled. I didn't get a chance to take the rifle apart so I'm not sure of the trigger housing, but it does have a smooth face push button safety and I think "M no line" magazine release. It has a tpe 1 band, but the sling keeper is some fugly deal and not original. The rifle is in a low wood late war Winchester stock (nice stock actually) with ordnance wheel cartouche.

The rifle is for sale at $1400...think they are looking at it more based on how it "looks" (early carbine) vs. knowing how early it is.

    Any thoughts?

    Greg
