    Looks like it went through Augusta Arsenal without much done to it, assuming the stock is original to the rifle. What is the barrel date ??

    Based upon the pics provided it appears that the hand guards and the stock have not been together forever. If the stake is clean on the lower band it is possible that the only item changed may have been the stock. The stock is darker in color and has a heavier coat of finish than the other pieces of wood. In pic 4 on post 2 you can clearly see a contrast. Nice looking rifle.
