    Default 1894 Dated Bayonet

I picked up an 1894 dated bayonet today at a gunshow. It's had new slabs and rivets put in (not Arsonal) and been sharpened a little. The scabbard has been modified to look like a Mauser scabbard with the knob on the side. But considering I've seen about 3 1894 Krag bayonets in 30 years I'm satisfied for $110. I'm slowly filling the rack Bill Mook gave me.

I have done a little repairing in the past. I even bought a demill (now reforged into a hunting knife) for parts. I removed the hilt to put on a good blade. Rebrazing was the trick. I built new slabs for the demill after my son reforged a tip on the old blade. Lots of time, good results.

My bayonet is dated 1901... but I need a scabbard for it!

It took about 20 years to find a loose Krag bayonet scabbard that wasn't broken or smashed and I was glad to get it.

I think the only thing harder to find than a scabbard is a complete Krag rifle stock running loose. Seem to be a lot more bayonets than scabbards. Thus the proliferation of cavalry scabbards. Every carbine needs one.

Speaking of Krag rifle stocks, I am looking for one that is trashed below the lower band, but nice elsewhere. Broken off at the magazine would be great, or smashed at the wrist.
