  1. Default Winchester Carbine With 4 Digit Serial Number

I'm in the Dallas area and have a Winchester carbine with an early 4 digit serial number. I'm not a carbine collector. I've been told the sights are original and never upgraded and that the receiver, barrel, stock, slide and assortment of other parts are correct, original and not upgraded. I was told it has an early Inland bolt and that the trigger group and hammer are not Winchester. I don't want to violate any forum rules - but i'm interested in selling this Carbine and was wondering if there are any forum members in the Dallas / Fort Worth area who might be interested in looking at it. Thanks, Chris

Chris, Very nice carbine. Could you show us some photos of the trigger housing and maybe the hammer?

LOL - I guess that is true... but what I meant was that since Winchester started at one million - it's just four digits past that - the 1839th winchester carbine made.

I couldn't remember if Winchester started production at 1000000 or 1000001, but if they started at 1000000 and your serial number is 1001839, yours is the 1840th Winchester carbine made.

Winchesters first military production number was 1000000.

That kind of clears it up as Inland made the only USGI carbines with 4 digit serial numbers.
    - Change it back -
