It is a later model Remington M1903. Unless it has a Type C (full pistol grip) stock it is a M1903; Adding a Type C stock makes it a M1903A1.

The rifle you have is a common Remington M1903 that someone has fitted with a Marine Corps front sight cover. Your rifle has been through arsenal overhaul, partially refinished, and re-assembled from mixed parts.

Hope this helps. Thanks for taking the time to make and post photos.

I kind of like it even thou I am a Garand man. So slender and grace full compared to the Garand ,but not the fire power., R stamped front milled with Ordance bomb stamp in cut out, site R on base,R on windage knob,R on saftey, box stamp in front of mag in stock. Stock sanded lightly in the past, but not bad the wood still stands proud above metal. Ya 80rds was alot of firepower if you lived that long or even shot your rifle.

The Garand, like the Springfield, had no more firepower than the ammunition one could carry in a waist belt.

Technically speaking, any M1903 rifle fitted with a Type C pistol grip or scant grip stock can be considered an M1903A1. From a collector's standpoint however, an M1903A1 rifle is considered between S/N 1492000 and S/N 1536285 and fitted with a Springfield Armory Type C pistol grip stock. Also, any M1903 rifle sold through the DCM as an M1903A1 regardless of serial number can be considered as such.
