    Thanks Chuck. Are they dated at all? If not, how might I tell what vintage a sling is? I am actually looking for mid 80's.

    all the ones iv seen are dated.

    If they are not dated they are not GI.

    There are a bunch out there that are fakes.

    Also, if they are marked "MRT" only, its not a fake but a blem not sold to Uncle. usually poor leather quality.

    The "MRT" only slings always have the writing parallel with the sling, a correct one will have the writing across the sling along with the date.

    What about the left side of the stock, does it have a cheekrest or is it plain?

    Very nice rifle...

    Edited for not looking: Well duh, I must have been tired last night and didn't see all the pictures you posted....very nice rifle...

    That is a blem from the contractor, no date.

    It a company called Cathay Leather.

    Just when you figure you have the markings figured out they change it up.
