    Default Elk

My hunting buddy went on a hunt to Alberta and this was the result. I had nothing to do with harvesting but I can tell you it was tasty.

Sorry about the rotation it is straight up and down on my computer but turned 90 degrees when posted.

I was interested in how they got it into the trailer, as my buddy has had cancer and his bladder removed. He has a bag and cannot lift much.

Apparently, the trick is to back the trailer up to the animal, then tip it straight up, lash or cinch the elk to the trailer. Then using the tongue of the trailer as a lever, pull down and voila, elk in the trailer.

Any of you who have had to get a large animal into the back of your pick-up knows how hard that can be.

This is a pretty good trick, I think.

    What tricks do you use?

That's the trick I use. It works for other things, like hauling 900-lb round bales of hay and so on.

Except for the very 1st time I shot an elk, it was quartered long (like miles) before it got to the truck.
But "Good on Ya" for that haul!
