    Default Warmer weather coming

    Weather getting better, Time to dig out the carbine 1896 with 1899 updates 1901 rear sight. Nice bore, should shoot good.

    Sounds close to what my first Krag was ... it would shoot closer than I could hold it. And you can get a pretty fine hold with the peep aperature on the 1901 sight.

    Thanks Jon, p[an on going next week, have some 180gr rem corelok {6 boxes} some reloads also that I picked up at a gun show last year. Will pull these apart for the cases and bullets. Will give a range report.

    Check out the primer flattening on those green box loads! None of the so-called max loads in the loading books leave the primers with that hard-edge look. The factory 180s are a damn good hunting load. I've had good luck with lighter loads for target shooting, and some of the guys on this list have gotten god results using cast bullets, wheel-weight metal.
