Default REM-UMC 38-44 cartridge with small pistol primer

While checking over some different 38 special cartridges, I noticed a REM-UMC 38-44 SPL headstamp
cartridge with the small .175 diameter pistol primer. I was unable to locate or find any other 38 special
cartridges with the small primer, all had the large .212 diameter primer.

Any have any 38 special cartridges with the small primer ?

All my 38 special brass uses the small pistol primer.

I will take some photos, as the 38-44 appears by measurement to have a small diameter primer than
the standard 38 special. I seem to recall an odd size 45 ACP primer also from that time period

RCS, Yes, I had 300 S&W 38 Special cases in 6 boxes of 50 cases each. I also had two friends that were very disciplined reloaders, I gave the cases, boxes included to my two reloading friends. And then time passed before I asked them about the S&W cases. They informed me they threw all of it away and then they asked me if I knew the S&W cases used small pistol primers? Anyhow, they said they had never seen a 38 Special case that used small primers.

I guess if I could separate them they would not be so easy to scare.
