Default Nostalgia: Gun prices from 25 years ago ...

Have a box of Kleenex handy.

    https://www.gunboards.com/threads/of...-weep.1182464/

However nice those prices appear, I have a page from "Hunters Lodge"
listing firearms for sale (circa late 50s,early 60s)

43 Spanish Rolling Block, NRA Excellent - $35.
FN semi auto 30/06 NRA good - $30.
    1917 Enfield NRA good - $30
    M1 Carbine (good) $66.
Mauser models, 8 total - range around $30,
some come with bayos, all with slings.
    Bayonets $4.

Dontcha just wish you could time travel ?

I remember 98 Mauser rifles at 40 dollars and you could buy a box od 100 rounds of 8mm Mauser for 10 dollars. Woolco, 1977.
Enfield, everything else is just a rifle. Unless it's a Garand.

I'm happy to have the couple rifles that I do. Things got expensive very fast in the last two decades.

I remember FINDING a Bren gun at Siwa Oasis in Egypt in 1954, with all the ammo you wanted -- it was a small, abandoned Brit dump. Dad wouldn't let me bring it home, though.

They were still doing with Vetterlis until fairly recently. Maybe 20 or so years ago?
