  1. Default 1903 in a 1903A3 Stock

    Hello-

I have my fathers 1903 Remington dated 11/42. Here is the issue.. at some point a bubba gunsmith got ahold of it, removed the rear sight base, cut the barrel sight off, tapped the receiver, and not to mention cutting up a original stock.

So, here is my question.. Since the rear sight base is gone, can I use the A3 C-stock and handguard with the associated parts? Rather not replace the barrel even though it is cut but would rather at least give it some sort of military look.. Looking at the no-drill scope mount to cover the tapped receiver holes

    Thanks
    Steve

replacement stocks were made that worked on both (1903's and A3's) so no worries there,

you can use a 1903A3 handguard, but will need the handguard ring

instead of looking at no drill mounts, why not just use a Redfield/Leupold mount and rings and call it a Faux Sniper(ish)

the no drills I know off replaced the cutoff's, and were a bit awkward,

or, is the receiver drilled for the side mount Redfield type sight?

2 holes centerline of the receiver and 1 in the rear on the bridge. Had a Western Field scope which I still have. not sure the ring maker but I don't know if new ones have the same mounting screw patterns

Thanks for the stock info- I figured as much but wanted to confirm

the screw patterns for 1903's (once drilled) are normally consistent,

and the Leupold\Redfield rings used are usually 1 rear, 2 forward,
