    Container ship, ONE Apus, arrived at the Port of Kobe, Japan, on Tuesday
    It lost 1,816 cargo containers 1,600 nautical miles northwest of Hawaii

    The ship reportedly encountered 52-foot waves during its journey

    Its cargo loss is believed to be the biggest weather-related cargo loss in history.

    Wouldn't surprise me to find out deck cargo was jettisoned to save the ship. The act could be weather related but underlying causes that created the need would be in question.

    Talk about a hazard to navigation. 1800+ containers floating around can cause a lot of damage to ships not being able to see then just on the surface.

    Everything you can imagine. I remember years ago 10's of thousands of sneakers washed on shore. The thing is scientists knew from the currents exactly where they would show up. I wonder if there is any way to salvage those things or should the navy just start sinking them.
