    Any M1A with milsurp parts is practically an antique. SA Inc. hasn't used milsurp parts since the mid 1970s.

    actually, they have,

    they started making their own stuff in the late 70's or early 80's (bolts, and one lot was recalled) but many of the hammers, triggers , trigger housings etc were still USGI,

    some barrels were surplused or NOS GI stuff too, with GENESCO overstamped on the side of them

    As I recall reading long ago. Winchester sold it's tooling to the Chinese for the M14. As far as I know Polytech is still in business--just banned from U.S. importation. The Polytech/Norinco M14's have forged receivers too like the Bula M1A's and the original military M14's.

    Except for the bolts that were not hardened properly they made fine rifles. Many suspect that the newest Springfield Inc. parts that are not stamped are Polytech produced.
