I recently inherited my grandfather's colt police positive in 38S&W with the short 4 inch barrel (aprox). Serial Number 30750. I'm looking for date of mfg. Much thanks in advance.

thanks for both the replies. I might have to call colt and let them know that the serial # belongs to a different pistol than they report

Colt's serial number lookup is far from complete. There are several Colts that could have serial number 30750 that they don't have listed.

For $75 you can get a Colt letter telling when and where your Colt was originally shipped, along with any other information such as original finish.
