    Agree though that Connery set the standard---everyone else that followed just played the part.

    I grew up during the 60's but just didn't get into all the 007 fantasy. To me the main characters were the women (most of them anyway).
    I saw Road to Perdition years ago, and don't remember a thing about his role, guess I need to re watch it,

    he was good in LayerCake, and a few other movies,

    but remember , he was playing a role,

    I think he is a close second to Connery, and I do enjoy his movies,

    I really like the way the writers decided to add little (and not so) easter eggs here and there and keep the story somewhat similar, but add a lot of backstory ,

    He is the one and only James Bond!

    I liked some of his movies. Some very good performances. Apparently, he was a difficult man. He is on a few lists. Women, money. Well, most of us have a few flaws. Just have to try to get out of the way when necessary.

    Connery had two tattoos probably from his Royal Navy days;

    “Scotland Forever”
    And
    “Mum and Dad”

    Says a lot right there.

    I really enjoyed his performance in THE UNTOUCHSBLES and in THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER
