    Default 9.8mm Colt Auto cartridge

The Colt 9.8 mm auto was developed around 1910 for trials in Bucharest, Bulgaria and Serbia. Eugene
Reising was the Colt agent, no sales were reported.

The Colt automatic looks like a smaller version of the Model 1911, the barrel was 4 11/16 inches long
and the pistol weighed 2 lbs 2 ozs. The cartridge is close to the 38 Colt auto in size but a larger bullet
diameter, muzzle velocity reported as 1200 fps. Cartridges were WRA and UMC (unmarked) with U on primer

  2. Default

This cartridge is also designated 9.65 mm Browning. WW1 got in the way and FN never built their version of the 1911. There is a photo of the FN 1911 in Blake Stevens' book about the Browning High Power. A pity the pistol never saw production.
