    Did you look into whether the welding exempted it from classification as a "firearm"? Makes a big difference in shipping it.

    I am guessing on this as. But seance a barrel can still be twisted into it and a bolt will still go into. It still has a SN# on it. Its still a fire arm.

    Maybe. I don't know for sure either, except that having a ser. no. is NOT the deciding factor. ALL dewats have ser. nos. but are not "firearms."

    generally speaking, it would be considered a firearm,

    if it were rendered inoperable, (bolt welded etc) then no, a paperweight

    Yes but it still had to go through an FFL to be transferred if it has a serial number it needs to no matter if it’s welded or not The only Exception if it’s been chopped up in accordance to the recommendation for that particular receiver.
