Unknown marking on M1907 sling.

The marking is "Duncan" under which is "E.H.R" Looks like gov't stampings & the initials look like an inspector's mark, but no date. Is it known that any contractors for the slings omitted the dating? I know they were supposed to be dated, but mistakes can be made.

I knew that I had a Duncan sling on something, and while looking noticed that 2 out of about 6 slings did not have a date. Most likely manufactured in 1918, with the initials E.H.R. being the government inspector.

Mine is marked exactly the same way, but has brass frogs.

The frogs on the sling I show are brass also, but still has a lot of the blackening originally used on them.
