A smaller group but not forgotten; Some British pilots were trained in a small East Texas town called Terrell, Texas. Some died in their effort and were buried there. They are remembered every year as though they were buried in A National Cemetery. It was and still a most interesting story.

    F. Guffey

An effort was made to send the dead pilots back to England; the perception/answer seemed to indicate there was more room here than there. The citizens had already included the pilots into their daily life as thought they were family, that is the way they were buried. Some of the pilots that trained in Terrell returned to Terrell after the war and some of them married girls from the area.

PWC, not trying to steal the thread, but writer Tom Killebrew had a couple of books on this subject. Further info can be found through GOOGLE enter “ WWll English pilots that trained in Texas.” Guffey was correct, deceased were buried in National Cemetery.

“Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.” (Luke 22:36)
