    Default Frame serial number

    Picked up a frame with the serial number 2641475. One book says Ithaca another Colt.

    Easy way to tell is whose initials are stamped on the left side as the final inspection stamp.

    That would be from the very last serial block of Ithaca (1945).

    Like I said, I have been away for awhile. It is definitely an Ithaca . Thank you for reminding me.

    It will have the initials of Col. Frank J. Atwood (FJA), officer in charge of inspection and acceptance for the Rochester Ordnance District, on the left side of the receiver.

    Johnny, It does plus the small symbol on the front of the trigger guard that Ithaca's have.

    The small mark you mention was an inspector's mark used to identify that inspector. Ithaca had used the same marks on other firearms they produced.
