    I'm not seeing it on the list. Maybe someone can look it up in Brophy's, mines at home.

    Thanks for checking, the list has SPG wrong it should be Stanley S.P. Gibbs who was a civilian emplyee
    at Springfield from 1916 to 1951

    I could not find it in Brophy either !

    A few years ago I did find L.L.T. which was a pre WW2 inspector on rebuilds (1903)

    Here is a reference to "SPL" marked stock on a NM:
    "SA 1036724 SA 11-18 Mk I Black park, barrel breech face and receiver bolt hole in the white, Mark 1 stock "SPL"

    The only reference I have seen to S.P.L. was on a 1.08 million range Springfield.
