Photo shows a 1949 dated disassembly mat for the M1 rifle, note the trigger housing and
rear sight is shown disassembled.

Later disassembly mats did not show the trigger housing disassembled as only authorized

Interesting. In the 60s, in the Marine Corps, we did a full takedown and re-assembly of both the M1 and M14 trigger groups. And ya better be quick about it

I notice the gas cylinder is not removed. Probably for the best.
