  1. Default 03A3 rear sight base ?

I have a rear sight base that came off a drill rifle that's slightly bent. I want to piece the rear sight back together with some other parts I have on hand. When I stripped the old sight I noticed there was no set screw drilled in the right front of the base like other examples I have seen in the past.

The base had two holes drilled through that were not tapped and were not in the usual location. The question I have is were all A3 sight bases drilled and tapped for a set screw or were some just drifted on and staked in place originally.

This is the first time I seen a base like this I thought they all had the set screw in them. Just curious, thanks.

Early and mid-production M'03-A3 sight bases had the set screw in the right front corner and were also staked in place. Later production bases were just staked in place with no set screw.

Thanks for the info! This was the first one I had seen like this.
