I'm not sure what you mean by "in the wild," but yes, I have seen one.

Yes I have one . Bought it about 20 yrs. ago at a gun show .

The one I saw was on a 1919 National Match rifle fitted with original USMC sights. The stock appeared to have been fitted by the rifle's original owner from that period.
