  1. Default Original Finish On 38S+w Smith Victory Model?

What was the original finish on Smith and Wesson 30 S+W Victory models . A friend has a well worn one that I saw and it looked like remnants of Suncorite? Can that be correct?

    depends,

they were loaned and sold to a few Commonwealth countries,

one in Service with England, OZ, India etc could have been FTR'ed with Suncorite

any ownership marks on the Revolver?

From memory US Property marked on top of frame but has the * marks that I believe denotes a rebuild on frame and barrel.

The original finish was a bright blue up until December of 1941. From December of 1941 to March of 1942 a blue finish over a sandblasted surface. FromMarch of 1942 until the end of the war it was Parkerized.

Any painted surface is a refinish.
