    Default 03A3 barrel marking question

Have a Remington March 43 03A3 barrel that has 3 capital "P" stacked on top of each other on the underside down by the front sight.
I assume these are proof marks.
Anyone know why it has 3 of them?
Is there a reason to proof test it 3 times?
    TIA,
    Jay

I have no explanation for the multiple proof marks unless the inspector stuttered or you have a CMP Greek rifle. The "P" means that the barrel was proof tested in a fixture, not a rifle.

    Thanks JB.
I bought the barrel still in its wrapper and had it installed on a sporter restoration.

Maybe the inspector had too much coffee??

...or, that, too!! I had a pre-1917 RIA stock with no fewer than THREE large "S" stamps on the foretip and I wondered the same thing.
