    Here are a couple pictures of carving on my rifle. Is that a name on[/ATTACH]M1899C-1.jpgm1899C-2.jpgn the stock? big fingers on date keys Model 1899C

    I believe that "Zu" means "To". Therefore it MIGHT be a destination or military objective.

    Looks like Russian. The Russian G-from the Greek letter Gamma-after the date is the Russian abbreviation for year-god-in Russian.

    blackhawknj is correct - Russian genitive case for "year of 1941." The carving, however, is for xxxx. I read/speak crappy Russian and cannot make heads or tails of it. "Zil'komnenizya?" Perhaps poorly-educated and lacking in handwriting skills.
