  1. Default type 38 carbine question

    Hi, How do you remove the end cap on a type 38 carbine. Does the front sight have to come off?
    also, wtb-type 38 carbine stock or broke rifle stock that i can cut down, hand guard, bolt and any small parts. building a wall hanger from a cut in half carbine.

    There is a flat spring on the bottom of the stock, at the muzzle end. Pushing in on the spring will release the cleaning rod (if still present). Pushing in on that spring will release the front band (bayonet lug). You might have to tap the front band forward. (pushing in on the spring, put a flat screwdriver blade between the end of the spring and the bayonet lug, and pry it forward.) The front band will pull forward over the front sight. There is an end-cap that covers the front of the fore stock (with a hole for the cleaning rod). That cap is held in by a pin through the stock. Drift that pin out to remove that end-cap.

    It's designed to be removed without hammers, saws, or heavy equipment.
