  1. Default New to Trapdoor... have questions

Went looking for a Mosin Nagant at the Pawn Shop.

    Stumbled onto a Springfield Trapdoor.

Did not check the bore, but everything else looked clean.

The stock was split near the grip/wrist area so I kind of wrote it off.

Been pondering it for the past few hours.

I know nothing about them and the Pawn Shop dealer was desperate for an offer. He had had two or three people put it on layaway but welch on the deal.

It had been on the shelf for almost a year at $550

Just browsing, I see replacement stocks around $200

I don't have the skill to rebuild a rifle but wouldn't mind a plinker.

Just don't want a can of worms.

If I could get a substantial discount, and figuring the cost of a new stock in the deal... what would be a good offer?

    Any guidance appreciated!

If a full length rifle, it has to be worth $200.00. The parts would be worth more than that. I have bought them with a cracked stock for that and then repaired the stock.

DO check the bore! And chamber too. Work the 'trapdoor', check firing pin and work hammer. You can probably repair the stock, but don't tell dealer that. Maybe $300?
