There were three military production manufacturers of M84 scopes. The most common are those made by Libby-Owen-Ford Glass Co of Toledo, Ohio. These are the ones with the white box around the serial number on the data plate. Second most common are those made by Leupold & Stevens Inc. of Beaverton, Oregon. Their name plate has no box around the serial number. The hardest to find are those made by Rudolph Wendel Inc, Albertson, LI, NY. Their name plate has a silver box on which is stamped the serial number. These are quite rare. I refer you to the articles by Charles Redfield as published in the Grand Stand Report, numbers 109, 110, and 111.
