    Default Rear Sight Attachment

Picked up this 1905 rear sight assembly for my 1913 RIA NRA sales rifle off eBay last week, it came with a sight attachment that I can’t reference, anyone have any information on it and know it’s purpose?

Upon further inspection with a 10x loop the hole in the top of the bracket has a blued bushing, the bracket itself appears to have been color case hardened.

I believe what you may have is a supplemental rear sight. If you insert it into the front of the leaf with the tab up, it will provide you with an aperture sight instead of a notch sight.

    My 2c worth.

Based on the way it's built simply flip the sight leaf to the rear. The hole is offset so it has to fit in the drift slot like it is in the picture.
