In each of my renewals, I just send the same form letter as I did the previous time. In the letter, I say that "in compliance with application instructions, I am notifying you of my application for renewal of my C&R license. No further action is required on your part."

Dan, While the form letter would be informative it may not meet the requirements of the ATF. The paperwork states to give the local departments Chief a copy of the application that you send to ATF.
