  1. Default about the washer under the flash suppressor?

    Isn't a peel washer standard now? When did this change to a crush washer? Why?

    Crush washers are "old school". All of our issued M16A1s had crush washers. Peel washer are the new norm but crush washers still work.

    I'v bought and own ARs since the '60 and never had one with crush washer before my last build with a Colt 16" barrel? All mine had peel washers?

    Yeah, you're right. I confused a crush washer with a lock washer.

    early used a lock washer,

    then the peel washer for the A2
    peel it to time the flash hider,

    they were changed to crush washers in the early 2000's IIRC
