Same here. I've already seen some of them. They always arrive about 2 months too soon. Their eyes end up getting frozen (I hear) then they get eaten by animals. It's a wonder there's any left.

For me the first sign of spring is when certain flowers bloom in the yard. Still going to < 20 degrees at nights here.

"...a crazy robin or two this time of year..." Lots of 'em winter here. Lotta stupid ducks and geese don't fly South either. Keep thinking I could grab a Canada as it flies by and convince it to take me to Arizona.

This would be more like the first thaw. My brother was stationed in Anchorage Alaska AFB for a couple of years. He observed that ALL the locals had dogs, big dogs, many dogs. They would all take huge dumps in the ever present snow everyday. The crap being warm would melt down into the snow. The first big thaw every year would reveal many months of accumulation, mounds upon mounds of preserved dog crap. For many of the Alaskan's I suppose this would be the first sign of a dreaded first sign of spring.

This is info you can only get here.
