  1. Default Scant stock question

Have a fellow collector friend of mine that just acquired a 1903 Mark I that has been re-stocked with a scant stock. I thought I read some where that the scant stocks were cut for both the 1903 & the 03-A3. His stock is cut for the 1903 only. Would this be correct? If this is correct is there a date as to when this was done or when the change over took place to the cut for the A3. Also when did the first scant stocks start to appear. Thanks for any help on this.

    Seasons' Greetings!

Scant stock production began in early 1942. Early scant stocks were not inletted for the M'03-A3 because the M'03-A3 had not yet been designed. As I recall, the M'03-A3 was approved in May, 1942, but production didn't commence until September, 1942. So almost all scant stocks made in 1942 were not inletted for the M'03-A3.

    Happy New Year!
