  1. Default Cocking Piece Markings

I've looked for a reference on cocking piece markings, but cannot find any on the internet. I did find a collection of firing pins for sale on ebay, two "R" marked and two "N" marked. The N characters seem to have thinner legs and are larger than mine (highlited in yellow). Also, the contour of the 90 degree radius is different on the ebay pins... mine is an even radius where the others have a bit of a hump in theirs. Any idea of who used an "N" mark on their cocking piece and if Remington would have used these subcontracted parts?

    Seasons' Greetings!

The "N" marked firing pins were made by Remington. If you could see the other side, you would see the "R" marking. The parts were not subcontracted.

    Happy Holidays!
