Default Fall project builds line up.

Just got in a Springfield and another Winchester heeled receivers to add to the H&R for Fall builds.
These will compliment the Winchester and TRW builds that were already completed.

Very nice! What will you be using for barrels?

These will all be military configurations with as new walnut stocks and cotton web slings. The idea is to have 5 of them as decorations in my office along with my other USMC memorabilia. 2 Winchester, 1 SA, 1 H&R and one TRW. I have one Winny and one TRW completed and test fired already. These 3 will be done soon. I have had all the parts and stocks set aside since April.

European invasion day weekend so I decided to get going on these critters.
1st step is to lap the bolts to the receivers. A couple of minutes on each and I get the 60/40 contact that I like to use.

Using the Brownell lapping tool, because I like the pressure that it applies and they work.

Just a tiny dab of lapping compound on the leading edge of both receiver lugs.

Now the boring part. Wiggle waggle wiggle waggle to and fro until the desired contact is reached. Usually a couple of munutes on each receiver bolt combination and we are good to go. I like 60% right lug and 40% contact but that is just my choice.

There is the contact I like to see.

Next step is the barreling. My favorite of all. First a light application of resin to both side of the vise inserts.

Now farmer tighten the barrel in the vise and make sure the front sight appliance that is going to be on the finished product is in place.

Apply a nice coating of barrel paste. This is my choice. Some like nothing and others just a no seize .

Hand tighten the reciever in place and a little painters tape to keep the receiver wrench from marring the receiver.

    Tighten receiver wrench in place.
