New to this board, but I have been shooting for a long time. I just picked up a couple of trapdoors from the recent RIA auction. https://www.rockislandauction.com/de...-rifles#detail I was hoping you folks might favor me with a little information and advice.

The first one is an 1873 serial number 195465. At least to my untrained eye, the gun appears to be in fair condition; seems to have the right parts, stamps, and dimensions; and functions well mechanically. Unfortunately the bore is very badly corroded. Any reason I should not put a liner in the barrel?

The second gun is an 1870 in 50/70. The bore approaches pristine, with the three land and groove rifling. Otherwise appearing correct, the gun is dimensionally short. 48" overall, barrel is about 28 1/2" from muzzle to the block hinge pin, and the bands are 12" apart. The barrel only has what appears to be a serial number of 1561. Any thoughts on what I have here will be most appreciated.

Thanks, THBailey
