  1. Default Names of WWI USMC Snipers

I have found the names of the snipers of the 13th Marine Regiment in France in WWI listed by Company. If anyone had a relative in the 13th Regiment, I would gladly check his name against the list. I only have the rank and last name of each sniper. I now know for sure exactly how many snipers were in each Regiment and Company.

Wasn't the 13th Regiment Smedley Butler's Regiment which arrived just before or after the Armistice? I thought they were broke up and used to man the camps to coordinate the return of the AEF back to the states?

  3. Default

Yes, for the most part. The 11th and 13th Regiments contained the entirety of OSD SSS school trained snipers who arrived too late for combat. They were armed with the WRA assembled sniper rifles, which also never saw combat. Only the 150 Niedner prepared sniper rifles saw combat with the 5th and 6th regiments. The combat attrition of the Niedner rifles is likely the reason no one can find one.
